Gunfight erupts in Pulwama village

PULWAMA — A gunfight erupted between militants and security forces in Frasipora area of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.

A top police officer quoted by a local news agency said that a joint team of local police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Frasipora Pulwama.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, the officer said.

Meanwhile, a top police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
