BARAMULLA — An encounter has started between security forces and militants in Pariswani area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, officials said.

The officials told news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the encounter broke out shortly after joint security forces including the Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area following inputs about the presence of militants there.

When reports last came, firing was going on from both sides, however, there was no casualty on either side so far. Besides, the number of trapped militants and their affiliations were not immediately known.

While confirming the encounter, Kashmir Police Zone in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at Pariswani area of #Baramulla. Budgam Police and Army on the job.”
