SRINAGAR — A non-local taxi driver was shot at and injured in southern Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday, officials said.

They told the news agency GNS that the attack came around 9 PM in the Heerpora area of the district. The injured identified as Dilranjeet Singh, a resident of Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, was rushed to the Shopian district hospital, from where he was referred to a hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment, they said.

Singh’s condition is stated to be stable, they said and added that police and security forces cordoned off the area to nab the attackers.

“A Taxi driver was fired upon by terrorists in Heerpora Shopian and got injured. Search operation is going on. Further details shall follow,” police said in a post on X.
