Acquiring a new gas connection online is now easier in India

SRINAGAR — India has several companies that provide gas connection to the public, and they have been doing so for some time now with new companies entering the market.

While gas is supposed to be the primary source of energy for domestic cooking and in kitchens, there are a substantial number of houses in rural India that prefer using alternatives. While these alternatives are easy to get their hands on, whether they are using dung cakes, twigs, branches and wood, or kerosine, they not only pollute the environment but make the kitchen and in some instances the food, unhealthy and not safe to consume.

A gas connection is one of the wisest ideas for a kitchen. With the improvements in the way cylinders are made, multiple safety measures added to prevent any issues when using them, including systems put in place to prevent leaks, protection from bursting, or accidental fires.

Through several initiatives, the Government is working on increasing the number of people using cooking gas in India. They even started initiatives to reduce the cost of the cylinders to encourage more people within the country to use them. It is a common misconception that gas is a little more expensive, but with the schemes the Government is running, it ends up cheaper and is the best alternative.

Several companies in the market that provide cooking gas solutions and people have to apply for the right ones depending on several factors. Most of the companies send gas refills to the houses of their clients. Depending on their location and the Indian States, some are better than others. Furthermore, the pricing of the gas cylinders is not the same, although they work in the same ballpark.

While the process of applying for a new cylinder is easy, it does take a significant amount of time. Applicants have to fill out the forms and documents and hand them in at the gas office, along with their supporting documents. To hasten the process, the Government created a new e-Governance system, allowing applicants to get through the process without leaving their homes, which is a lot faster and more convenient. They have added all the forms there and allow people to download the information that they require to get through.

Applicants can apply for a new gas connection through multiple companies, or they can coordinate the process through the e-Governance website or through other websites that would coordinate the paperwork as well.

People can complete their applications online itself, and people can add their information to the online forms, or they can choose to download them and submit them in the office. If the gas companies were in the market for some time, they would have their information on the website. They even have the pricing and places where they provide their services mentioned online, making it easier for people to do their research. An additional change that they can work on is finding out if the delivery system is on time and drops off the gas bottles or cylinders at the doorstep.

The system of LPG gas booking allows people to book their cylinders from their homes whenever they are running out. The company usually has fixed dates where they send a delivery to a specific location, and in metros, they work on an individual basis as well. People receive two cylinders and can interchange them whenever they need to wait for the next one.

The Government is now in talks to add gas pipelines, so they don’t have to coordinate the regular replacement of gas cylinders. They will provide gas to houses like a water connection, with people billed depending on the amount that they use. They would also implement regular checks to the pipeline so that they do not have any leaks. Gas companies currently add substances to the gas so that people can smell it if there is a leak and they would find out.
