PNB staffers to contribute one-day salary for J&K flood victims

Srinagar: PNB staffers working in its branches across the country will contribute one-day leave salary to the PM Relief fund for assistance of the Jammu and Kashmir flood victims.
The bank in a statement today said that that 59,000 PNB staff members working in 6000 branches across the country have decided to contribute one-day leave salary to the PM Relief fund for assistance of the Kashmir flood victims, it said.
Meanwhile, the bank restarted its operations at its Amirakadal branch here today.
On Saturday the bank had restored operations at its Jahangir Chowk branch here.
Giving details it said the bank is now operating all across the Valley through its 29 branches. “Only two branches one each at Pampore and BB Cantt which have been extensively damaged by the floods are presently not functioning,” the bank in a statement said.
However, it said, the BB Cantt branch has been made operational from an alternate location outside the cantonment near Batwara Chowk in its Area Office.
The bank said the Safe Deposit Lockers have also been made operational in all the branches across the Valley and locker holders have been advised to operate their lockers as per their convenience.
“In view of the prevailing flood situation, the bank has made arrangements for its customers to operate their accounts from any of the branches functioning in the Valley without incurring any extra charges.”
“Our Circle Head of Jammu and Kashmir, M L Mir has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the public on account of the reasons beyond our control,” it said.
