SRINAGAR — The authorities in Kashmir University (KU) have postponed all undergraduate and post graduate exams till March 31.

Registrar KU, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir said the fresh dates of all deferred exams will be notified later separately.

The decision to postpone all exams has been taken in wake of the decision by district administration Srinagar to impose restrictions on movement of public transport and assembly of people in Srinagar district.

Meanwhile, the authorities in Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) have also postponed the admission process of students in first semester till further orders.

“All the exams if any shall be postponed as well,” Vice Chancellor CUS, Dr. Sheikh Javaid said.

Meanwhile, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has also postponed all the examination with immediate effect. “There shall be no examination from Thursday till further orders,” VC CUK, Prof. Mehraj-U-Din said.

“All the teachers are requested to prepare teaching learning material of the pending Units/Units of the next semester and hand over the same to Director, IQAC, both in the form of hard and soft copy through their respective Coordinator/Head/Dean for onward transmission to the students,” he said.

He further said that scholars should approach their Supervisors either through email or phone, and avoid to venture to any of the University Campuses.

“Chief Warden will close all the Hostels and the Hostels shall be locked and sealed till further orders,” he said.

“An emergent meeting will be held tomorrow in the Committee Room at the Green Campus. All Coordinators, heads, Deans, Director (R&D), Director (IQAC), Chief Warden, CoE, Registrar, Dy. Registrar, Assistant. Registrars, PRO and other Unit Heads will to attend the meeting,” Vice Chancellor said.

“The meetings shall be held in small groups to discuss further course of action,” he said.

Meanwhile, J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has also postponed private 10th and 12th class examination till March 31.

“The fresh date sheet will be notified separately,” Chairperson JKBOSE, Veena Pandita said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Human Resource Development also directed the CBSE and all educational institutions in the country to postpone exams till March 31 in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

“While maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations as also of their teachers and parents,” HRD secretary Amit Khare said in the official communication.

“All the ongoing examinations, including CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Board exams, be postponed till March 31 and rescheduled thereafter,” he said.
