GDC Pulwama celebrates Prize Distribution function

Government Degree College Pulwama organized an impressive prize distribution function in the college lawns today. Teachers of high repute and caliber and students who have excelled in academic and extracurricular activities were awarded with trophies, cash awards and certificates. Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik was the chief guest on the occasion while as District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Mr. Shafat Noor was the guest of honour on the occasion. Principal of the College Prof. Mushtaq Ali Mir, Principal Government Degree College for Women Pulwama, Prof. Roshan Ara, Assistant Commissioner, Labour, Deputy Director Employment, Mr. Ahsan and several officers, prominent citizens and students attended the function.

Principal of the College Prof. Mushtaq Ali Mir, Principal Government Women College Pulwama Prof Roshan Ara, Assistant Commissioner, Labour, Deputy Director Employment, Ahsan and several officers, prominent citizens and students attended the function.
The Minister distributed Rs 9.86 lakh among registered construction workers and skilled persons on the occasion. He also distributed loan in the form of cheques among unemployed educated youth for setting up of their income generating units in the district.
Addressing the function, the Minister called upon the youth to take up self generation ventures and not to pursue government jobs alone. He said government has launched several schemes to overcome unemployment crisis as there is no dearth of funds in this regard.
Referring to various demands, raised by College authorities on the occasion, the Minister announced two buses for college students and assured of improving drainage system and repairs of track leading to college.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated newly constructed 12 room lecture block of the college.
He also released college newsletter on the occasion.
