Pulwama, July 15: Hundreds of college students including girls took out a protest against the Israeli raids on Gaza that have left many dead over the last week.
Reports said scores of students from Government Boys Degree College in Pulwama took out a procession Monday afternoon and raised anti-Israel and anti-India slogans like ‘India ki barbadi tak jung rahey gee’, and ‘Indian dogs go back’. “We are protesting against Israel’s attack on innocent Palestinians. This is one form of intellectual protest of Israel by participating in BDS – Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement. Hundreds of students have joined this movement and we encourage others to participate,” a student of first year, Ommer Ahmad, said.
When asked why the students were raising anti-India slogans while demonstrating against Israel, he said both countries are pursuing a policy of ethnic cleansing, ‘one in Kashmir and the other in Palestine’.
District president of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Javid Ahmad Bhat, also took part in the protest rally. He said Muslim countries should boycott Israel-made goods and break trade ties with Israel to put pressure on the aggressors to end massacre of innocent Palestinians. He criticised India, Israel and America for genocide of Muslims in Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq. He reiterated to take the struggle against Indian occupation to its logical end. The protest rally was taken from Government Degree College and ended peacefully at main chowk in Pulwama. The Girls Wing of the college also took out a protest rally.
