SRINAGAR — Government Higher Secondary School Kilshey in Gurez valley of Bandipora district has recorded zero percent pass percentage for Class 12th, result of which was declared today afternoon.

According to details available with Kashmir News Service (KNS), the school has five students enrolled in Class 12th with Arts stream and all of them have failed to clear the annual examination.

When contacted, the Principal of the school, Abdul Majeed blamed students for poor performance and stated that teachers did their best to fulfil their duties. “Teachers even conducted community classes for the students in view of the COVID-19 pandemic to make up for the losses suffered due to the closure of schools. Students did not study with zeal and which is why they failed to clear the exam,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Bandipora, Abdul Roub Shaad said that there are several posts of lecturers vacant in various higher secondary schools in Gurez education zone and one of the major factors is that these higher secondary schools are without principals.

“One principal is handling all seven higher secondary schools in Gurez. Even though we have been apprising the higher authorities about the same, however, nothing substantial has been done so far in this regard,” he said.

He also blamed students for poor performance and stated that they did not work hard to clear the examination.
