SRINAGAR — The Jammu & Kashmir Government has begun the hunt for new head of the prestigious J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
The General Administration Department (GAD) today constituted a five-member committee headed by Financial Commissioner, Finance Arun Kumar Mehta for shortlisting probables for the coveted position of the JKBOSE chairman.
The committee also comprises Principal Secretary, School Education Department Asgar Hassan Samoon, Secretary Higher Education Department Talat Parvez Rohella, Vice-Chancellor Central University Jammu Prof. Yogesh Tyagi and Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University Dr Talat Ahmed.
The committee has been mandated to submit a panel to the government which will take a final call on the appointment. “The committee shall be serviced by the School Education department and shall submit the panel within 15 days,” reads an order issued by GAD.
On March 31, the government extended term of incumbent chairman Veena Pandita upto April 30 due to delay in choosing her successor. Pandita, who was appointed as head of BOSE on April 03, 2018, was set to complete her two-year term on April 02. Before being appointed as full-fledged head of BOSE, Veena also served as the body’s in-charge head after Zahoor Ahmad Chatt was repatriated to Higher Education Department by PDP-BJP government.
