SRINAGAR — Prof. Javed Musarrat, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri.
Orders to this effect were issued today by the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is the Chancellor of the University.
The appointment has been made on the basis of the recommendations of the Search Committee headed by Prof. Amitabh Matoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister. The appointment has been made for a period of five years from the date he assumes office.
Born in 1960, Prof. Musarrat is presently Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, AMU.
Author of several books and hundreds of international publications, Prof. Mussarat has served in the United States as Visiting Scientist at Michigan State University and Visiting Assistant Professor at Ohio State University, Columbus. He was also the Chair Professor and DNA Research Chair, at King Saud University, Riyadh.
He has also received several awards and is a member of various editorial boards of Scientific Journals.
