
SRINAGAR — The University of Kashmir is ahead of Jammu University in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) released by the Government of India on Thursday.
According to NIRF Rankings-2020, Kashmir University stands at the 78th rank among all institutions of higher learning in India. Jammu University finds itself at 90th spot in the overall category.
Among universities, KU and JU respectively find place at 48th and 52nd position. The KU has shown slight improvement as it had figured at serial number 53rd in the last year’s ranking for universities.
Similarly, Jammu University has also improved as it figured at 74th spot in the category of universities in 2019. Among engineering institutions across India, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra bagged 78th position.
The institutions this year were ranked in 10 categories – overall, universities, engineering, colleges, management, pharmacy, medical, law, architecture, and dental.
NIRF Rankings were launched in 2015 and the first ranks were announced in 2016. The rankings are based on different parameters including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
