Srinagar: Education plays a vital role in shaping students’ academic careers as teachers are responsible for not only educating their students but also developing students’ motivation to learn. The same is true for other institutions who are in charge of the education system but in Jammu & Kashmir, JKBOSE seems to do away with its responsibilities.

Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE), which is the main Board of school education in the state of J&K conducted exam of Physics paper of Class 12th earlier this week on Thursday (25-10-2018) wherein the students complained that the paper was ‘very difficult’ when compared with the question papers from past four to five years.

“They confused us with questions that didn’t even match our standard and were much difficult,” Mehak, a Class 12th student said.

Another student said, “They seem to have no knowledge about setting up of question papers.”

“The Board is proving to be a failed institution. Not just tough standard of question papers, the Board sometimes shows Distinction possessing students as Failed at the time of declaration of results,” the agitated student added.

Students have apprehension that they may not get good marks in the Physics paper due to its ‘improper pattern’.

Some students also alleged that the paper was already available with some students as it had been leaked. “The Board should re-conduct the examination or there should be very lenient marking as all of us attempted only few questions while the rest sounded very difficult for everyone among us except for some who already had the paper as it was leaked.”

School exams may be shifted to March session

The students appealed the Board authorities to re-conduct examination of the Physics paper so as to give them a ‘fair chance’ to do well in the very exam.

Chairperson JKBOSE Veena Pandita when contacted by media said the secretary JKBOSE has been asked to constitute the committee and find whether the students’ grievances are genuine.

“Once the committee is constituted, it will take a week’s time for them to submit the report. Further decision will be taken on basis of the committee report,” Veena Pandita said.

  1. Physics paper was really unexpected. It seems that it was set by some inexperienced teacher. Now, we are not able to focus on the upcoming exams as we are depressed. JKBOSE should conduct re-examination.

  2. In previous exams, most probable questions were asked but it should be noted that students have to prepare 100% according to JKBOSE syllabus and in 2018, JKBOSE made it clear for both classes 11th and 12th to prepare all prescribed syllabus.
