Teachers arrange community classes in remote areas of Pulwama

PULWAMA — In order to reduce the negative impact on education in Kashmir due to the pandemic of Coronavirus, the J-K administration on June 29 decided to allow functioning of community classes in the UT.

In this connection, the administration also issued guidelines for these community classes, keeping in view the prevalent pandemic.

These community classes are being organized in places where there are difficulties in accessing internet facilities. In this regard, schools in Pulwama district of south Kashmir have also started community classes, including Government High School Sangarwani and Government Upper Primary School Aditrag from Shadimarg block.

The teachers of these schools have identified open spaces in nearby forest where they are conducting community classes to continue their students’ education.

Tanveer Hussain Gorsi, a local student, said that he was grateful to his teachers and administration. “They have explored the open space for us in the jungle and organized community classes, where social distance is also taken care of,” he said.

Headmaster, Government UPS Aditrag, Nazir Ahmed said that it was impossible to maintain social distance in schools and the government had also announced that schools should be closed.

Zia-ul-Haq, teacher at Government High School Sangarwani, said that people living in these remote areas do not have Android phones which causes them to miss online classes. “So, this was the need of the hour,” he adds.

It is pertinent to mention that the teachers have already completed the T-1 syllabus and claim that they along with their students are ready for the upcoming exams.
