Two months on, search for new JKBOSE chairman continues

SRINAGAR — Despite elapsing over two months, authorities have failed to hold a meeting with search committee constituted for suggesting a panel for appointment of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) chairman.

According to the details available with us, the term of incumbent JKBOSE chairman, Veena Pandita expired on April 04 following which her term was extended by a month till April 30. Authorities later gave further extension to Pandita by two more months in view of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

On April 08, the government constituted a search committee for suggesting a panel for appointment of chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education.

The orders to constitute a committee were issued by the General Administration Department (GAD)—comprising of five members headed by the Financial Commissioner of Finance department.

The other four members of the Committee were Principal Secretary to Government for School Education Department, Secretary to Government for Higher Education Department, Vice Chancellors (VC’s) of Central University of Jammu and Samba and Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir (KU).

Meanwhile, the search committee invited applications from eligible candidates for the post of Chairman—asking the aspiring applicants to submit their forms at the office of Principal Secretary, School Education on or before June 15.

Pertinently, the incumbent BOSE chairman, Pandita was appointed as officiating chairperson on August 10, 2017 and on April 05, 2018. She was appointed as permanent Chairman of the Board for a period of two years.

One of the members of the search committee for suggesting a panel for appointment of a new BOSE chairman said that no meeting was held from the administration since the formation of the search committee.

“I have no idea about the developments about the new BOSE chairman. As of now, no meeting has been intimated by the authorities,” he said, adding that “Once the meeting will be called, the developments in this regard will come to fore.”
