Amid Coronavirus scare, demand for masks, sanitizers shoots up in Kashmir

SRINAGAR — Demand for face masks and sanitizers has suddenly gone up in Kashmir including Srinagar amid Coronavirus scare with people buying these items in bulk.

People across Srinagar were seen buying sanitizers and face masks, especially three-layer masks worth Rs 50 in bulk from the chemists.

“People in large numbers are coming to buy masks and sanitizers, especially spray sanitizers. The interesting part is that every customer is buying these items in bulk,” said a chemist at Lal Chowk, Srinagar.

He said that demand for these items has suddenly gone up in the wake of the scare created by the spread of the deadly virus—COVID-19.

Another chemist said that people buy three-layer masks in bulk and also sanitisers. “If the rush of people remains the same, these items will run out of stock,” he said.

Meanwhile, people have been asked by the authorities not to panic and maintain hygiene and take preventive measures.
