SRINAGAR — Amid continuous surge in COVID-19 cases and mortality in Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir division is facing an acute shortage of vaccines as not a single person was vaccinated in the Valley today (Sunday) while almost 9000 people received jabs in Jammu division.

As per the data available, no person was vaccinated in any district of Kashmir division on Sunday and on the contrary, 8,750 persons were vaccinated in Jammu division.

Data adds that till date 2,814,272 doses of vaccine have been administered in J&K UT which includes 1,335,954 in Kashmir division and 1,478,318 in Jammu division.

People across Kashmir have been complaining about acute shortage of both Covishield and Covaxin for the last several days.

Pertinently, in the last four days, only 818 doses have been administered in Kashmir while during this period, around 40,000 doses have been administered in the Jammu division.

J&K administration has repeatedly claimed that there is no shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in the Union Territory.

Notably, there are over 51 thousand active cases in the UT presently.
