Srinagar: Kashmiri students studying at Swami Devi Dayal College of Engineering at Barwalla Harayana were allegedly beaten in the college hostel on Friday night. “A group of hooligans barged into our rooms and started beating us without any provocation,” students told over phone. “Why do you people come here? This is not Kashmir. It is India. You are terrorists. We will teach you a lesson,” students quoted assailants as having said. They said two of their colleagues sustained critical injuries in the assault. “Later police reached on the spot and instead of acting against the culprits, they abused and threatened us,” students alleged. They appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and take up the matter with the Haryana Chief Minister. “We are living under tremendous fear and threat. If no action is taken against the culprits we fear that they may kill us,” students said. Despite repeated attempts the principal of the college Moti Lal Jindal did not pick up the phone. GKNN
