SRINAGAR — The number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir crossed 10,000 mark as 268 new infections were reported on Saturday.
The cases which include 15 Army soldiers and 10 paramilitary personnel take the overall tally to 10,156.
87 cases were reported from Jammu division and 181 from Kashmir including four pregnant ladies, five employees of J&K Bank employees Handwara and three policemen from Tangdar and Kralgund.
Giving district-wise breakup of the cases, officials said that Srinagar reported 67, 37 each from Baramulla and Kupwara, Rajouri 29, Kulgam 23, Jammu 21, Kathua 20, six each from Anantnag and Samba, Pulwama 05, four each from Budgam and Reasi, three each from Udhampur and Poonch besides one each from Shopian, Ganderbal and Kishtwar.
Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer for Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS Soura, said that out of 1366 samples which were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital today, 64 returned positive for the virus.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, said that they include 23 from Srinagar, 12 from CRPF, 11 from Kulgam, seven from Anantnag, three each from Baramulla and Pulwama besides one each from Budgam, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Shopian and Kargil.
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, said that out of 385 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 12 tested positive for COVID-19 including ten from Srinagar and two from Budgam.
Meanwhile, 109 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals, 14 from Jammu Division and 95 from Kashmir.
