After five years, JKSSB publicizes selection list for NT posts

SRINAGAR — Five years after the written examination was held, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is all set to declare the list of selected aspirants for the post of Naib Tehsildar (NT).

In its 165th Board meeting, the JKSSB has decided to publicize the selection list of candidates for the post of Naib Tehsildar who were shortlisted after they appeared in the written examination held in the year 2018. The JKSSB on the direction of High Court (HC) will also keep two vacancies reserved in this regard.

After High Court dismissed a number of writ petitions vide order number SWP number 2395/2018 and 939/2018 on March 10, 2020, JKSSB in its Board meeting decided to publicize the list of candidates selected for the post on merit basis.

The statement issued in this regard said that a matter that was subjudice before High Court in wake of writ petition filed by a number of candidates was dismissed.

HC had also asked JKSSB to keep two vacancies reserved vide order number SWP number 2396/2018 and 939/2018, the statement reads, adding that during the Board meet held today under the chairmanship of Khalid Jahangir, it was decided to prepare the list on basis of merit obtained by the candidates who appeared in the written examination and interview held.

The advertisement for the 155 posts of Naib Tehsildar was made public vide Notification No. 01 of 2015; Dated 07/04/2015 for which almost 101077 applied among which 62789 appeared in the written examination and only 873 candidates were shortlisted for the post, the statement reads.

The JKSSB selection list of candidates for the posts of Naib Tehsildar (Revenue Department) State Cadre under Item No 007 has already been made public on the official website of the Board.

The statement furthermore reads that the Board also considered a few other agenda items which include representation regarding the post of Technical Animal Operation (GMC Rajouri). The Board has agreed to dispose all the agenda items in accordance with the extant norms.
