COVID-19 claims 14 more lives in J&K, toll 620

SRINAGAR — Fourteen more patients who were tested positive for COVID-19, died in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, thus taking the toll of deaths due to the virus to 620 in the Union Territory.

An official said that 14 patients who died include a 79-year-old woman from Kralgund Kupwara, a 75-year-old man from Bemina Srinagar, a 56-year-old pharmacist from Ashmuqam Anantnag, a 16-year-old girl from Devsar Kulgam, a 73-year-old man from Sopore Baramulla, a 62-year-old man from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar, a 68-year-old man from Khawaja Bagh Baramulla, an 82-year-old man from Nalabal Nowshera Srinagar, a 63-year-old woman from Bemina Srinagar, a 40-year-old man from Chanapora Srinagar, a 60-year-old woman from Kishtwar, a 70-year-old man from Marh Jammu, a 70-year-old man from Samba and a 45-year-old man from Poonch.

An official from SKIMS Soura said that a 56-year-old pharmacist posted at SDH Seer Anantnag who was admitted at SKIMS Soura on August 19 died on Saturday.

He added that a patient from Kralgund Kupwara who was admitted on August 21, a 75-year-old patient from Bemina Srinagar who was admitted on August 05, a 16-year-old girl from Devsar Kulgam who was admitted on August 02, a patient from Sopore who was admitted on August 09, a patient from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar who was admitted on August 06, a patient from Khawaja Bagh Baramulla who was admitted on August 07 died on Saturday and an 82-year-old man from Nalabal Nowshera Srinagar who was admitted on August 19 died on Saturday.

He further added that recent reports of a patient from Alamgari Bazar and Khawaja Bagh Baramulla turned negative.

An official from SKIMS JVC Bemina said that a woman from Bemina who was admitted on August 10 died on Saturday.

An official from SMHS Srinagar said that a patient from Chanapora Srinagar died hours after being admitted with bilateral pneumonia on Saturday. He added that the patient was tested positive through a rapid antigen test.

An official from GMC Jammu said that a 60-year-old woman from Kishtwar, a 70-year-old man from Marh Jammu, a 70-year-old man from Samba and a 45-year-old man from Poonch who were suffering from multiple ailments and were undergoing treatment from last many days died at GMC on Saturday.

With 14 more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 620 including 575 from Kashmir division and 45 from Jammu division.
