COVID-19 claims five more lives, J&K toll 1373

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir reported five more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking its fatality count to 1373.

Among those who succumbed to the virus include four from Jammu division and one from the Valley—a 60-year-old woman from Chankipora Sopore.

Official sources said that she was admitted to SMHS on October 12 and was diagnosed with bilateral community acquired pneumonia.

Two deaths from Valley were reported in official bulletin today. However, GNS that reported one death—an 85-year-old from Ratnipora Pulwama on October 15, the day the octogenarian died at SKIMS Soura.

Four deaths took place in Jammu and include three from Kishtwar and Doda.

With these deaths, the fatality count has reached 919 in Valley and 454 in Jammu.

Srinagar district with 328 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (236), Baramulla (134), Budgam (90), Pulwama (76), Kupwara (72), Anantnag (70), Kulgam (43), Bandipora (42), Rajouri (45), Doda (40), Shopian (33), Ganderbal (30), Kathua (29), Udhampur (25), Samba (24), Poonch (22), Ramban (11), Kishtwar (11) and Reasi (6).
