Five more COVID-19 deaths reported in J&K

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir reported five more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 1526, officials said on Friday.

Among those who succumbed to the virus include three from Kashmir Valley while two others were from Jammu division, they said.

The victims from the Valley include a 65-year-old woman from Lal Bazar, an 84-year-old woman from Natipora and 78-year-old man from Naseem Bagh Srinagar.

The victims from Jammu division include one from Kathua and another from Ramban—a 72-year-old from Banihal area of the district. Officials said that the septuagenarian died at CD Hospital Srinagar, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the COVID-19 patients and died a day after he was admitted.

With these deaths, the fatality count has reached 1526 in J&K—1011 in Valley and 515 in the Jammu region.

Srinagar district with 373 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (265), Baramulla (147), Budgam (94), Pulwama (83), Kupwara (73), Anantnag (76), Rajouri (48), Kulgam (48), Bandipora (47), Doda (48), Shopian (35), Ganderbal (35), Udhampur (32), Kathua (33), Samba (25), Poonch (23), Ramban (18), Kishtwar (15), and Reasi (8).
