65-year-old Rajouri man dies of COVID-19, J&K toll 53

SRINAGAR — A 65-year-old man from Rajouri on Friday became the 53rd person to succumb to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources said that the sexagenarian died at Government Medical College Jammu, ten days after he tested positive of the pathogen.

Medical Superintendent, JMC Dr Dara Singh said the man had fallen off from stairs as result of which had suffered injuries in head.

“He was admitted to GMC Jammu on June 01. His test report for COVID-19 came positive on June 02 when he was shifted to isolation ward. He died today,” he added.

With his death, Rajouri has reported first fatality due to the virus and also takes Jammu division’s toll to six.

So far, Srinagar district with 12 deaths has the highest fatalities, followed by Baramulla ten, Kulgam eight, Anantnag six, three each in Shopian, Kupwara and Jammu, two each in Pulwama and Budgam while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda, Udhampur and Rajouri.
