POONCH — In a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, an Indian Army Agniveer lost his life while two other soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), sustained injuries in a landmine explosion.

According to official sources, the blast occurred near Victor Post in the Salotri village of Haveli tehsil during a routine patrol when a landmine, part of the area’s anti-infiltration defences, was accidentally triggered.

The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The condition of both injured soldiers is reported to be stable.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the blast, while the Army has paid rich tributes to the slain soldier, who has been identified as Lalit Kumar.
