Day 5: Cross border shelling continues along LoC in Poonch

JAMMU — Pakistan continued violating ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for the fifth consecutive day on Friday by using small arms and mortars in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu Division.

Reports reaching here said that for the fifth consecutive day, Pakistan Army used small arms and was shelling with mortars to target the Indian positions on the LoC in the two districts.

Reports said that Indo-Pak armies on early Friday exchanged gunfire along Line of Control in Krishna Ghati and Nowshera sectors in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

An Army official said that at about 03:30 AM, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and mortar shells along LoC in Krishna Ghati sector.

He said that in second attempt at about 07:20 AM, Pakistan Army then resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Nowshera sector of Rajouri, which was retaliated effectively. He, however, said no loss of life or injury was reported in the shelling.
