Jammu journalist body condemns police case against scribe

JAMMU — The Jammu and Kashmir police has filed a ‘bogus case against a journalist to tarnish his image,’ journalist body of Jammu said on Sunday.

“Taking serious not of the incident, the journalists in Jammu in a meeting strongly condemned the attitude of the Jammu and Kashmir police,” they said.

According to reports, they said that the ‘fake and assault cases against the journalists have been increasing during Governor Rule in J&K.’

They urged the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Governor Satya Pal Malik and Advisor Incharge Home K Vijay Kumar to seriously look into the growing incidents against journalists both in Srinagar and Jammu.

They said that it was not the first incident when police has filed a fake case against journalists.

“We have a number of times warned the administration to check this malpractice of the police to avoid collusion between police and journalists,” they said.

“The government should immediately withdraw all such fake cases against the journalist,” they said.
