Gunfight resulted in the killing of four 'unidentified' militants

JAMMU — Four unidentified militants were killed and two SoG men were injured in an early morning encounter that broke out between security forces and militants, who were travelling in a vehicle, near Ban Toll Plaza of Nagrota in Jammu district.

Officials said that four militants fired at a Naka party at Nagrota on Jammu—Srinagar highway, triggering an encounter.

“In the gunfight, four militants were killed,” the official said, adding that two SoG men sustained injuries, one of them with splinter injury in his neck. “Both cops are stable,” he said.

The injured have been identified as Kuldeep Raj (32) of Akhnoor and Mohammad Ishaq Malik (40) of Neel Qasim Banihal Ramban. Both have been admitted in GMC Jammu and their condition is said to be stable.

Traffic on Jammu—Srinagar national highway was blocked and is likely to be restored after a short while.
