JAMMU — Senior separatist leader and President Jammu Kashmir Muslim League, Masarat Alam was presented before the TADA court here in Jammu in a case filed against him by Jammu and Kashmir Police in 2012.
Alam, who is in jail since 2010, was released for a short period of time in April 2015. The police, which filed a case against Alam in 2012, have alleged that he was involved in disturbing peace and order in the Valley.
Sources said after listening to the arguments, both from the Public Prosecutor and the Counselor representing Alam, the court listed the case for the next hearing on April 9 next month.
Alam, pertinently, is facing detention under the 37th Public Safety Act (PSA) that was slapped against him last year in May.
The separatist leader, who is part of Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference, has spent most part of his life in jail since 2008. In the last 25 years, he has been booked 37 times under the Public Safety Act.
