Road accident leaves four non-locals dead in Ramban

RAMBAN — A deadly road accident near Khooni Nallah on Srinagar-Jammu Highway in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir left four non-locals dead. The deceased included two women and a two-year-old child, all residents of Chhattisgarh.

A police official said that the accident occurred on Wednesday morning when the driver lost control over the vehicle that skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Khooni Nallah.

The vehicle in which labourers from Chhattisgarh were on way from Jammu to Srinagar rolled down after skidding off the road.

He said that a rescue operation was immediately launched by the police, Army and local volunteers. Three people including two women were found dead while five others were taken to District Hospital Ramban where two-year-old Aryan succumbed to injuries.

Three of the injured have been identified as Narayan Manji (21), Dinesh Kumar (19) and Maghe Lal (17). The condition of the injured is stated to be critical.
