JAMMU — The security forces launched a search operation after three persons moving suspiciously on a motorbike fled a police check post in Nowshera area of Rajouri on Wednesday late evening.

A top police official told the news agency KNO that three persons, moving suspiciously on a motorbike, fled a police check post in Thalka area of Nowshera today evening. He said they left the motorbike, which they were riding on, near the transit camp in Thalka and fled towards the nearby forest area.

“Soon after the incident, Army and police launched a search operation in the area,” he said.

The official said they could be drug peddlers, militants, or bike lifters. “We cannot rule out anything at this point. We are ascertaining further details, while a search operation is going on in the area,” he said.

Notably, on Sunday evening, four persons were killed and several others were injured in a militant attack in Dangri village of Rajouri district, while two minor children died and several others were also injured in an IED blast that took place near the site on Monday morning.
