Two die in road mishap inside Chenani-Nashri tunnel

SRINAGAR — Two persons were killed in a road accident on Tuesday night, while another person was injured inside Nashri Tunnel on Jammu Srinagar highway.

An official said that the accident occurred on late Tuesday night, when an Alto car bearing registration number JK14A-9978 collided with gate number 16 inside Chenani-Nashri tunnel, while the car was on its way from Udhampur to Ramban.

He said that two persons identified as Bittu Sharma (40), son of Hans Raj resident of Kriya Maitra Ramban and Sudesh Pandit (28), son resident of Kaka Ram of Sana Batote died on the spot, while the third person identified as Ganesh Gotam (20), son of Suram Chand of Kriya Maitra Ramban was seriously injured in the mishap.

Ganesh has been shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Chenani, where he is presently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, a case regarding the mishap has been registered in the concerned police station and further investigations into it have been set in motion.
