Two persons killed as landslide sweeps vehicle in Poonch

POONCH — Two persons were killed and another was injured when a vehicle, they were travelling in, came under a landslide in Mandi area of Poonch on Thursday evening.

Reports reaching here said that a Mahindra load carrier carrying oil for mobile towers came under the landslide, leading to on-the-spot death of one of three persons travelling in it while two others were injured.

The deceased has been identified as Makhan Singh son of Ramesh Singh of Akhnoor Jammu while injured are Anjum Khan of Surankote and Deepak Kumar of RS Jammu.

Both the injured were rushed to district hospital where Anjum succumbed later.

Station House Officer (SHO), Mandi – Anil Kumar said that a team of police reached the spot within shortest possible time soon after getting the information.

One of them had died on the spot while two persons were rescued in injured condition and shifted to hospital. One among the two injured succumbed later, he said. (GNS)
