Villagers show shells fired on their village allegedly from Pakistan in R S Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir

KUPWARA — Three persons including a woman and child were killed in cross border shelling between the armies of India and Pakistan in Chowkibal area along Line of Control in Kashmir Valley.

Official sources said that besides a 36-year-old woman identified as Shameema Bano, a child and a man were killed after shells landed in Tumina Chowkibal area. They said two residential houses also suffered damage in the shelling.

Sources added that Indian and Pakistani Army exchanged bullets and shells, creating panic among people in both parts of Line of Control.

Pakistani shells, they said, landed in Tumina area of Chowkibal, killing a woman and damaging structures. The shells landed on the vehicles and houses that triggered massive fire. “It’s like hell here right now,” said our reporter.

The locals have migrated to safer places. They said from past two days, the border area has been turned into a battle zone.
