40-year-old man slips to death in Jehlum in Bandipora

SRINAGAR — A 40-year-old man slipped to death in the Jhelum River in Gund Prang village of northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.

Sources quoted by a local news agency said that the man, identified as Abdul Rahim Lone, the son-in-law of Ghulam Mohideen Rather and a resident of Gund Prang area of Hajin, slipped into the Jhelum River and drowned while fetching drinking water.

They said that shortly after the incident, locals and a police party from Police Station Hajin rushed to the spot and immediately initiated a rescue operation to retrieve the body.

The body was recovered hours after the drowning. After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family for the final rites.
