47 persons booked for encroaching forest land at Pahalgam

ANANTNAG  — Police have booked 47 people for encroaching forest land in southern Hill Station of Pahalgam in Kashmir on Tuesday.

Police sources said that complaints were pouring in that some miscreants have not only encroached forest land in Pahalgam but also cultivated Cannabis plants.

Acting swiftly against the violators, police identified multiple spots and registered an FIR against 47 people in this regard.

A police official confirmed that an FIR vide number 18/2021 under Sections of 8/20 NDPSA & 26 Indian Forest Act has been registered at Police Station Pahalgam.

He said police acted after a criminal complaint was lodged by a Forest Range officer of the area.

All the accused belong to the village Lidroo, located near the encroached forest land.
