53 stone pelters arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 16: Curfew was lifted from whole of Kashmir Valley today, Police said.
According to Police, the day passed off peacefully barring few incidents of stone pelting from Maisuma, Rajouri Kadal, Gojwara Chowk, Bohari Kadal and Chota Bazar on moving vehicles in Srinagar city.
One civilian Nisar Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Makdoom Sahib received stone injury on his nose near Gojwara.
Some stray incidents of stone pelting were also reported from Anantnag, Baramulla, Sopore, and Vilgam in Handwara.
ASI Baldeep Singh of BSF received minor injury in stone pelting at Baramulla.
Meanwhile police has arrested fifty three stone pelters from different districts of the valley. Thirteen have been arrested from Srinagar, eight from Baramulla, fifteen from Sopore, eight from Anantnag, three from Pulwama and six from Budgam, police said.
Police said that no Police Post has been torched in Bandipora. Police said that a section of the press had reported that one Police Post was torched in Paribal Aaloosa area of Bandipora yesterday. The news is factually incorrect. Some miscreants attacked the post, but police exercised maximum restraint and repulsed the miscreants. There was however, some minor damage to the post.
