Allured Conversion: 12 Member ‘Core Group’ headed by Mirwaiz formed

Srinagar, Nov 29: A 12 member ‘core group’ was formed on Tuesday under the title of ‘Protection of Faith’ to fight against the alleged Christian conversions.
The group, headed by Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, would examine the syllabi of both Christian missionary and local schools.
Mirwaiz said the role of Christian missionary schools in spreading education in Kashmir cannot be denied. “But the conversion of faith could not be tolerated at any cost,” he said.
For the last one month, the valley has been simmering with anger against the alleged Christian conversion. And all the religious scholars stood on one platform with organizing seminars, speeches and even some scholars challenged for inter-faith debate between Muslim and Christian scholars.
The ‘core group’ decided and urged Ulema to set up an action plan so that the movements of missionaries could be monitored and ‘with the passage of time curbed.’
It was unanimously decided that the head of Darul Uloom Raheemya, Bandipora, Moulana Rehmatullah would be the chairman of ‘core group.’
“The recent exposure of conversion in Srinagar is just the tip of the iceberg. However, Christian missionaries have developed a wide network in the State and are engaged in suspicious activities. Their suspicious activities have made the people of the State anxious,” Mirwaiz said.
The meeting decided that there should be proper Islamic schools covering core values of Islam and its teachings with financial aid from Bait-ul-Maal. It was observed in the meeting that in most of the missionary schools have Christian literature and the morning prayers are against the teachings of Islam. The members in the meeting said that these things should be stopped immediately without any delay.
The meeting also decided to monitor the syllabi of schools run by missionaries and point out those things that encourage alleged conversions and anti-Islam feelings in the minds of Muslim youths.
Ulema also appealed to the parents and the guardians that they should monitor the movements of their children and encourage the basic teaching in their respective homes, which would help to curb the menace.
President, Jamiat Ahal Hadith, Ghulam Rasool Malik, Zahid Ali of Jama’t-e-Islami, Chairman Itehaad ul Muslileem, Moulana Mohammad Abass Ansari, President Islamic Study Circle, Dr Yousuf Al-Umar were also present in the meeting.
