Bear attacks duo after appearing in Srinagar outskirts

SRINAGAR — A wild bear after entering civilian areas of Srinagar outskirts attacked two persons who have been shifted to hospital in critical condition.

Police sources said that a bear entered in Khimber Hazratbal area and attacked two persons.

Both were evacuated to hospital with grievous injuries. They have been identified as 47-year-old Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman and 30-year-old Manzoor Ahmed Dar son of Late Ghulam Qadir Dar, both residents of Munzpora Khimber Hazratbal.

Locals informed Wildlife Department that dispatched a team while efforts are on to nab the wild bear that is still roaming freely in civilian areas.
