Bear mauls trio in Kangan

KANGAN — Two ladies and a girl sustained injuries after a wild bear mauled them in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday, officials said.

The incident occurred in Wani Mohalla area of Kangan.

Officials said that a black wild bear appeared suddenly in agriculture field near power house Kangan and pounced upon two ladies and a 19-year-old girl.

They were identified as Shaheena Begum (46) wife Reyaz Ahmed Mir, Jabeena Begum (34) wife of Mehrajuddin Rather and Nusrat Bano (19) daughter Nazir Ahmed Mir, all residents of Wani Mohalla Kangan.

“All the injured were immediately rushed to Trauma Hospital Kangan for treatment where from Shaheena Begum was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
