BJP leader booked for violating prohibitory orders in Shopian

SHOPIAN — Police booked a BJP leader who is also the Block Development Chairman in south Kashmir’s Shopian district for violating prohibitory orders.

Sources said that BJP’s BDC from Panchayat Halqa Heerpora was roaming freely in different Shopian villages and despite being warned, the said BJP leader was ignoring warnings. Sources added that police finally booked the said BDC Chairman.

A police official, confirming the incident, said that a formal FIR vide number 12/2020 under Section 188, 269 was registered against the violator at Police Station Heerpora Shopian.

He identified the said BJP leader as Saleem Sheikh son of Hassan Sheikh, a resident of Heerpora Shopian.

Pertinently, Shopian has 13 positive COVID-19 cases where Kanipora, Heerpora villages have already been declared as red zones.
