SRINAGAR — A brief exchange of firing took place between militants and security forces in Parigam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.

A senior police officer said that a brief exchange of firing took place between government forces and militants in some orchards of Parigam village. However, the searches are still underway in the area.

Earlier, according to the reports reaching here, a joint team of Police, Army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the village.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a brief exchange of fire.
