
KUPWARA — Police have shifted a man wounded in cross border shelling in Chowkibal area to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar.
Three civilians including a woman and a child were killed in the shelling yesterday. These included 8-year-old Ziyan Ahmed of Tumana Kupwara, 18-year-old Javaid Ahmed Khan of Chowkibal Kupwara and 36-year-old woman Shameema Begum of Chowkibal.
A couple of persons were also injured in the shelling between Indian and Pakistani armies. One of the wounded man identified as Bashir Ahmed Kataria son of Saifuddin was admitted in Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla.
A police official said that the said person injured in shelling at his house has injury on right hand and his condition is stable.
Locals informed that 219 Medium Regiment of Indian Army that have installed artillery in civilian areas including Sherkot Vilgam, Zerhama, Panzgam, Jahaz Ground of Kupwara some three days ago vacated from these areas after civilian casualties.
Locals appealed authorities to stop concentration of soldiers along LoC in their areas and save their lives from Pakistan shelling.
A couple of videos are viral on social media in which people are saying they are fighting battle against Coronavirus and shelling as well.
“There is calm today and no shelling is going on. People are scared and reluctant to go to their homes,” said a local from Sherkot Vilgam.
