PULWAMA — Government forces on Monday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The cordon and search operation was launched in Putrigam village after inputs about the presence of militants there.

Soldiers from 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 183 Battalion CRPF launched the search operation.

Official sources said that all exit points were sealed and house to house searches were launched, adding that additional forces were deployed in the adjacent area to prevent any law and order problem.

During the search operation, door to door searches were conducted and the identity cards of the people were checked.

Sources said that the operation was called off after no contact with any militant was established.
