GANDERBAL — A cloudburst triggered a flash flood in the Safapora area of Ganderbal district on Sunday, inundating roads, residential lanes, orchards, shops and several houses, causing widespread disruption and panic among the local population.
The sudden surge of water following the cloudburst flooded large parts of the locality, with water entering residential houses and commercial establishments, damaging household belongings and affecting normal life. Several orchards also remained submerged, raising concerns among growers over potential losses.
The flash flood rendered several roads and interior lanes waterlogged, disrupting vehicular movement and making it difficult for residents to move within the area.
Local residents have urged the district administration to immediately assess the damage, deploy dewatering machinery and provide necessary relief to the affected families. They have also appealed for long-term flood mitigation measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
