SHOPIAN — Authorities on Friday said that more than 343 kanals of State/Kahcharai land was retrieved from encroachers during anti-encroachment drives in south Kashmir’s district of Shopian.
The land retrieved from illegal encroachment includes 25 kanals, 12 marlas in village Zainapora of Tehsil Zainapora, 55 kanals, 23 marlas in village Nagisharan of Tehsil Hermain, 43 kanals, 3 marlas in village Berthipora of Tehsil Keller, 85 kanals in village Chittragam of Tehsil Chittragam, 28 kanals in village Vedapora of Tehsil Keegam, 12 marlas in village Hergam of Tehsil Shopian and 105 kanals, 5 marlas in village Mahandpora of Tehsil Barbugh of the district.
“During these anti-encroachment drives, commercial structures and land illegally occupied by influential persons including ex-minister was also demolished and land reclaimed,” officials said in a statement as per the news agency GNS.
“The drives were conducted under the supervision of Tehsildars of respective Tehsils,” it said, adding, “These drives shall continue till the entire encroached land is retrieved from the encroachers.”
