Concerned over detoriating health of Yasin Malik: APHC

SRINAGAR — Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led APHC today expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik in Tihar Jail.

In a statement, the APHC said, “The concern after the press conference given by JKLF chief Yasin Malik’s mother and sister in Srinagar, in which they said that his health condition has greatly worsened in jail and as he is not being given a fair trial in a 30-year-old case, ailing Yasin Malik has decided to go on an indefinite hunger strike from April 01.”

APHC said that Yasin Malik’s well being is the responsibility of Government of India who should ensure it so that nothing untoward happens to him in jail.

APHC said that all Kashmiri political leadership including Hurriyat leaders, activists, trade leaders, civil society members, students and youth held in various jails in Tihar, Agra, Jaipur and elsewhere as well as in jails across J&K should be released.

It said that especially after the coronavirus pandemic, the well-being of all these prisoners is at greater risk, causing great concern among their family members and people at large. So, they should be released and sent home.
