Conversion to Christianity allured by Big Bucks; Mirwaiz Discusses the Issue with Missionary Heads

Srinagar, Nov 16: In the wake of reports of alleged conversions by Christian missionaries in Kashmir, Valley’s head priest and Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday summoned Fathers of churches and management of the missionary schools to discuss the matter.
Principal Burn Hall School, Principal Saint Joseph School Baramulla, Father Matthew of MA Road Church and Father Khanna of Church Lane Church presented their viewpoint and held threadbare discussion with Mirwaiz over the issue.
Tyndale Biscoe Principal Parvez Samuel Koul, however, didn’t attend the meeting due to his ailing health, while nobody from the Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School turned up, sources said. Mirwaiz had also summoned Father Jim Bhorst and his colleague Gayur Mesih. But, they too didn’t turn up.
Among others, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, coordinator of the meet, and Shams-ur-Rehman were also present.
Mirwaiz has also called a meeting of Muttahida Majlis Ulema (MMU) on November 21 to discuss the measures ‘needed to arrest the activities of Christian missioners in the Valley.’
