Srinagar, Apr 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a Christian couple and a local girl in North Kashmir’s Bandipora town when they were allegedly distributing some Christianity pamphlets in the area, a news agency reported on Friday. According to the sources, police arrested a local girl, a couple from Delhi, in main market of Bandipora after they received information that few people were distributing some pamphlets. “Police arrested the couple along with the girl and investigations are on” the sources said adding that the local girl was released yesterday after questioning. Sources also added police have made three arrests in the case, “We are investigating the matter, and trying to know the reason why they were distributing the pamphlets and who is behind the whole scene,” an official told a press agency wishing anonymity. He further said the girl belongs to Gamroo area of Bandipora and her relative has married to a Christian girl in New Delhi. When contacted SP Bandipora Bashir Ahmed Khan said: “We arrested a Christian couple, on charges of “personal enmity”, but this is not a case of Christian conversion.” He refused to give more information about the case. Meanwhile, sources have confirmed that police have taken this case ‘seriously’. “This issue is very serious and we are investigating it from every angle,” a police official told AIP News. Pertinently, in November last year a case was registered against a pastor in Valley for ‘luring” people to covert to Christianity.
