CRPF officer dies after rooftop collapses in Hazratbal

SRINAGAR — A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sub Inspector died on Wednesday after he came under a shed which collapsed at a former legislator Syed M Akhoon’s house in Hazratbal area of Srinagar.

The deceased CRPF Sub-Inspector has been identified as H C Murmu of 115 battalion.

Officials said that the CRPF officer was immediately moved to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Hazratbal where doctors referred him to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in a critical condition.

However, the officer was declared brought dead on arrival at SKIMS Soura.

CRPF spokesman, Pankaj Singh also confirmed the officer’s death and said he was injured when a rooftop fell on him at former legislator’s residence, following which he succumbed to his injuries.
